News ticker
A strip of news along the bottom of every page: what happened to your games and what is moving on Steam right now. Every item links to the page with the details.

- Turn it on. The strip is hidden at first and only the Live block shows. Click Live to open the strip and again to hide it, or tick News ticker under Settings at the bottom of the left panel. The choice is kept in this browser.
- Your games — the games on your Watchlist and My game, if it has a Steam page: sales, releases, release date changes, big updates, Steam featuring the game, store page edits, moves in Top Sellers and the place among Next Fest demos while a fest runs.
- Records — a new record of players online, entering the top 10 to 1,000 of Top Wishlists, passing 1,000, 5,000 or 10,000 reviews, and a change of the Steam rating word, such as Very Positive to Mostly Positive.
- Steam right now — the Top Sellers leader, games climbing and entering its top 100, the week’s biggest wishlist risers, a running Next Fest with its leading demos, Steam sale dates and fest deadlines. New PlayRecon releases appear here too.
- Grouping. Three or more games with the same kind of news become one line, several edits to one store page become one line, and Top Sellers places that barely moved are summed up.
- Seen items. An item that has passed by several times without a click leaves the strip, and one you clicked leaves for a few hours. After a break of 12 hours or more the strip starts with what happened to your games while you were away.
- Controls. Hover pauses the strip, and Pause stops it. Show all opens the same news as a list grouped by source. With reduced motion set in your system the strip stands still and scrolls by hand.
Worth knowing
- With an empty Watchlist the strip shows the market, the fests and the calendar, and offers to add games.
- What you have seen is remembered in this browser only. News expires after a few days.
