Build a niche from tags, release window, price and publisher, and see what happens to the games in it. Every number stands next to the same number for the whole catalogue under the same conditions, so you can tell whether to go in or pivot to a neighbouring niche.

Pick tags to build a niche

Tags from different groups combine with “and”: RTS and Pixel Graphics means games that have both. Tags from one group combine with “or”, and the group can be switched to “all at once” for hybrids. A tag counts together with everything under it in the Tag Tree.

About these numbers

  • A niche is every game in the catalogue that matches the conditions. Outcomes count released games at least 90 days old within the release window; announced games only appear in “Coming next” and the announcement count.
  • A hit is 500 reviews or more over the game's life, unnoticed is fewer than 10. Shares come with a 95% interval; with fewer than 20 games a share is not shown.
  • The catalogue is the same conditions without tags: the same window, price and publisher filter.
  • Revenue is an estimate: reviews × sales per review for the release year × the price players actually paid in the US × the developer's share after Steam, taxes, refunds and regional prices. The middle of the interval is shown; a single game can be off by half.
  • A game counts toward a tag with everything under it in the Tag Tree; “Only these tags” turns that off.
