How the ranking works
The lineup is the list of games on Steam’s own Next Fest event page. Before the fest opens it is the list developers registered with; once Steam publishes the fest, it is the final lineup.
Players are counted for each game’s demo from Steam’s public player count, and the page updates once an hour. A place goes by the most people playing at once over the last 24 hours, not by the count this minute: player counts rise and fall with time zones, and a demo popular in Asia would otherwise jump up at night in Europe and fall back by evening.
The 6 h and 24 h columns compare with the place the demo held 6 and 24 hours earlier, counted the same way. “New” means the demo had no players then. Rising demos are picked among the first 500 places, by how many times the place improved.
Wishlists is the game’s place in Steam’s Top Wishlists chart on Oct 26, with the move since the day before the fest. Only the top 3,000 games are in that chart. The number under the place is our estimate of the game’s wishlists from that place: Steam doesn’t publish wishlist counts, and the estimate can be off by a fifth or more.
Demos that players tag Sexual Content, Nudity, Hentai or NSFW are hidden from the lists by default; the 18+ switch shows them. Places still count every demo, and search finds every game.
Steam’s own ordering of demos inside the fest is its own and may weigh things differently.
